Not every pepper spray is the same, or a few words about defense sprays

Defense sprays or also called kasers are not as well known among people as it might seem at first glance.
First, let's explain what a kaser, also known as a tear gas spray, actually is. A kaser is something like a chemical *non-lethal weapon, which is meant to temporarily paralyze an opponent, and it can do so for several minutes. They are mostly used for self-defense, whether necessary against attackers or defense against aggressive wildlife. Against wildlife, we recommend defense spray antihund and for personal defense Kaser Nato 40ml.

General information:

A defense spray, also known as OC spray (from "oleoresin capsicum"), OC gas, is a tear gas spray - an agent (a chemical compound that irritates the eyes, causing tearing, pain and temporary blindness of the opponent) used in police units, during riots, and for personal self-defense including defense against aggressive dogs, bears and other aggressive and dangerous wildlife. Its "spicy" effect causes the attacker to be unable to keep their eyes open, and thus they effectively become blinded. This temporary blindness allows the defender to defend themselves more intensively, or possibly escape from the attacker more easily. The chemical compound is not lethal, it causes a temporary "paralysis" of the attacker. Products should therefore only be used in necessary self-defense.

Composition:rastlina rodu Capsicum chilis

The main substance in the spray is capsaicin, a chemical substance extracted from the fruits of plants of the genus Capsicum, including chilis. Emulsifiers such as propylene glycol are used to suspend OC in water, and under pressure it is pressed together with the aerosol into a container which we later know as a tear gas spray. The content of capsaicin in the spray always makes up more than 2% (the exact amount is stated by the manufacturer)

Effects:

The very first contact with more delicate skin, mainly on the face, causes the attacker's eyes to close immediately, breathing difficulties, coughing, tearing and irritation of all mucous membranes. The duration of the effects depends on the manufacturer, composition and content, but on average it is 15 minutes of total disorientation, and even after a whole hour it is possible to observe the effects on the face, such as swollen eyes and irritated mucous membranes. Studies have shown that full contact with the eyes does not result in long-term vision problems, but repeated exposure of this kind to the eyes can cause changes in corneal sensitivity, though with no permanent consequences and no damage to vision.
The effects of the defense spray can be alleviated with a detox wipe.

A full hit of tear gas spray to the face causes:

  • Temporary blindness for 10 - 25 minutes
  • Burning of the skin for up to 60 minutes
  • Cramps in the upper body that force a person to bend forward and cough uncontrollably
  • Temporary breathing difficulties

Kasers are quite a good choice for self-defense against aggressive wildlife but also against troublesome individuals. Armies as well as intervention units also use these tear gases collectively, whether during riots, large brawls or at problematic sporting events and disturbances.

Defense sprays are further divided into additional categories according to range and dispersion.

Pepper sprays are therefore also classified according to their range. For each product on our website you will also find information about the range, but on average it is up to 3 meters for smaller ones, and up to 5 meters for larger ones. They are further divided according to spray pattern, namely into classic ones such as spray, which has a normal spread in all directions, then FOG, which means fog, so upon spraying it creates something like a fog, thus having a huge spread, and then JET, which is like a projectile, so it has almost no spread, but shoots a stream of solution in a single beam, so with this one you have to hit the attacker's face precisely. For these, the range is up to 6 meters. Below the article you will also find a video showing the effects of pepper sprays.

Last but not least, it is important to keep in mind that pepper sprays also fall into the category of products that may only be used in necessary self-defense and extreme necessity, as stipulated by law, and their purchase is only possible by a person over 18 years of age.
