Glow Sticks
Glow sticks — or light sticks — have long since ceased to be the exclusive domain of military units. Their range of civilian applications has also expanded, so glow sticks are today used not only for signalling, marking routes or summoning help in emergency situations. Light sticks are commonly used for entertainment and camping, and have become popular with athletes, anglers, divers, cavers and many other professions. The reason is straightforward.
Unlike other lights, glow sticks require no power source — light is produced without batteries purely on a chemical principle, exactly when you need it. Glow sticks take up little space in a backpack; once removed from the packaging, simply bend them firmly and shake, and a chemical reaction — the result of mixing liquids with fluorescent dye — will provide the appropriate light.
Glow Sticks Handle Every Environment
Light sticks glow even underwater, emit no heat and can therefore be used in places where there is a risk of fire or explosion. Glow sticks can provide light for approximately 8 hours and come in a colourful palette of colours — to name a few: red, yellow, orange, blue and green. But that is not all. Glow sticks are also available that emit infrared light visible only with special equipment. A short cord attached to the glow stick is handy for hanging the light on a branch, backpack, tent and so on. Choose from light sticks by manufacturers MFH or Mil-Tec.
