Hanging Mechanisms
Here you will find wall-mounted brackets for punching bags, frames, ceiling hooks, stands and chains needed to fix a punching bag to a wall. All hanging mechanisms in our range are from Slovak manufacturer Katsudo.
How to Hang a Punching Bag
Before deciding to buy a punching bag, consider the options of your space as well as the weight of the bag, which is closely related. There are several ways to hang a punching bag, but not all may suit you given the space available.
The ideal space to hang a bag at home is a garage or basement. Options also exist for people living in apartments, though they must also consider their neighbours, for whom your ceiling is their floor.
There are several ways to hang a punching bag:
- From the ceiling
- On the wall
- On a doorframe using a pull-up bar
- Outdoors on various bars, wooden beams or trees
Consider the Ceiling/Wall Material
The heavier the bag, the greater the load on the structure, so you need stronger fixings, which not every wall may be able to support. The ideal type of ceiling is reinforced concrete or wood in the form of a thick beam.
Space Around the Bag
When hanging a punching bag, it is ideal to leave about 2 metres of free space around it, depending on the type of bag — speedball or classic bag. The centre of the punching bag should be at chest height or slightly lower.
To hang on the wall/ceiling you need:
- Bag
- Carabiner
- Chain
- Ceiling bolt / ceiling bracket / wall bracket / rail
- Wall plugs and screws — type depends on the material of the wall you plan to fix the structure to
Ceiling brackets — their advantage is that they have more fixing points, making them more reliable. In our range you will find a cross-shaped ceiling boxing frame with four mounting holes, which guarantees greater stability than fixing with a ceiling bolt.
You can also use rail-type frames for the ceiling. These allow you to slide the bag out into the space and move it back after training. In our range you will find such a frame from manufacturer Katsudo, one metre in length with a load capacity of 90 kg.
A stationary wall bracket is suitable in the case of a weaker ceiling and limited space. Its advantage is easier stowing of the bag — if you do not train every day you can put the bag away and re-hang it on the frame on training days. Available is a hanging frame in black from manufacturer Katsudo.
To hang a speedball or bag from a wooden ceiling/beam, you can also use ceiling screws and hooks with a minimum thickness of 8 mm.
