Sleeping Mats and Seat Pads
Sleeping mats and blankets are an inseparable part of the kit for every hiker who wants to sleep outside under the stars. After tents and sleeping bags, they are among the important equipment for camping, so you can enjoy quality sleep that means energy for the days ahead.
Sleeping Mats
Sleeping mats are insulating pads whose purpose is to insulate against the cold from the ground. The sleeping mat has a major impact on sleeping comfort and without one, even the highest-quality sleeping bag cannot adequately insulate against the cold. The rule applies: the better the sleeping bag you have, the better sleeping mat you need. There is a large selection of sleeping mats on the market made from various materials, and they therefore differ in their quality and price.
Aluminium Foils
In the event of an unexpected deterioration in weather, we recommend having a protective foil with you, which you can use to maintain body temperature and thus prevent potential hypothermia. It is also used as an insulating layer beneath another sleeping mat. It should be placed with the shiny side facing up. Aluminium reflects body heat back and increases thermal comfort.
Foam Sleeping Mats
The most widespread and widely used are foam sleeping mats. They range from polyethylene water-resistant foam to higher-quality pads made from EVA material. Foam sleeping mats keep the body warm and dry. Their main advantage is low weight and excellent value for money. They are suitable for everyone who uses sleeping mats occasionally throughout the year. They range from approximately one centimetre to five in thickness. Classic foam mats are around 1 cm thick, provide insulation from damp and cold ground, but sleeping on them is firmer. We offer quality foam sleeping mats from the well-known manufacturer Mil-Tec.
Self-Inflating Sleeping Mats
Another type are self-inflating sleeping mats, which are among the best sleeping mats on the market. They combine the advantages of foam and inflatable mattresses. They guarantee high sleeping comfort and have excellent insulating properties. They are simple to prepare. Just open the valve and the mat will start to self-inflate by drawing in air. Finally, blow it up fully and close the valve. They are made in different thicknesses. At lower body weight, a thinner mat will suffice, and conversely, if you are heavier you need a greater thickness for adequate sleeping comfort.
Blankets
A quality, warm blanket is an indispensable part of the perfect, uninterrupted campout or camping trip. Fleece blankets from German manufacturer Mil-Tec have excellent thermal insulating properties. Such blankets are suitable for picnics and the outdoors, because their advantages include minimal water absorption. They are warm, do not absorb moisture and help maintain optimal body temperature.
