Softshell Jackets
Softshell jackets are a new generation of jackets. They consist of two to three layers bonded together. Some have a membrane between the inner and outer layer that provides protection against rain, wind and other weather conditions. A softshell jacket replaces two pieces of clothing at once — a fleece jacket and a waterproof jacket combined. A softshell jacket should not be missing from any outdoor or sports kit. If you want to wear it for everyday use in spring and autumn, a thin, breathable woven softshell jacket is sufficient. However, if you go high-mountain hiking or enjoy outdoor activities, we recommend softshell jackets with a quality membrane. Our range includes softshell jackets from manufacturers such as Helikon-Tex and MFH.
Helikon-Tex Softshell Jackets
This manufacturer’s range includes lightweight and breathable softshell jackets for everyday wear in transitional weather, as well as membrane softshell jackets designed for outdoor use in more extreme winter conditions, military operations and more. Thanks to the materials used, they provide protection against rain and wind. They effectively wick away moisture while the fleece lining provides excellent thermal properties. On some jackets the manufacturer uses quick-drying SharkSkin material, the Helikon-Tex® Windblocker membrane, or an outer DuPont™ Teflon® layer, preventing water and wind penetration. These jackets are waterproof, breathable and windproof. It is advantageous if jackets have a ventilation zip in the armpit to ensure comfort during increased physical exertion.
Reinforced elbows on the jackets allow freedom of movement during weapon operations. Velcro panels on the shoulders are provided for ID markings or patches with blood type.
MFH Softshell Jackets
Manufacturer MFH offers softshell jackets designated as PCU – Protective Combat Uniform – meaning waterproof and windproof. The jackets are intended not only for everyday wear but also for the outdoors, camping and military activities. A great advantage is when they have a front zip with a storm flap and adjustable cuffs around the sleeves as protection against unfavourable wind. A hood on a softshell jacket is only an added benefit, as it protects you against bad weather.
