Hosokawa Kacumoto (* 1430; - 1473) was a renowned governor of the shogun in the 15th century and a key figure in the Onin War in Japan. Leading 80,000 soldiers, he fought against his father-in-law in Kyoto, which was the capital at that time. After 10 years of war, neither of them could claim victory. Hand-forged blade with fuller (Bo-Hi) is made from carbon steel 1095 (which is not stainless). Manufactured in Honsanmei style, traditionally hardened through clay coating. With a true Hamon line. Hardness 60 HRC on the blade, 40 HRC on the spine. Blade collar (Habaki) is brass and the cast tsuba displays a samurai image. Handle wrapping is in Katate Maki style (war wrapping) from black cotton, beneath which is backed with genuine blackened stingray skin. Two pegs (Mekugi) secure the blade in the handle. Katana Imori comes in a wooden box with a sword stand.
