Shirasaya refers to a special sword holder that was previously used for careful blade storage. Particularly in times of peace, blades were ideally protected within it. Unlacquered magnolia wood absorbs moisture inside the scabbard, draws it outward and protects against rust. Many shirasaya were fitted with "sajagaki", an inscription that provided information about the smith, origin and classification. On the streets of Japan, inconspicuous equipment without a handle and guard was used, particularly in the late 19th century, because at that time the Emperor banned the wearing of samurai swords. The shirasaya attachment, which resembled a wooden sword or wooden baton, was a clever way to carry a sword inconspicuously. Blade in Shinogi Zukuri style with fuller (Bo-Hi), hand-forged from carbon steel 1045. The blade is sharply sharpened with an incorporated Hamon-line for a very authentic appearance. With a long tang, which is secured in the handle by two bamboo pegs (Mekugi). The sword is thus fully disassemblable. Without plastic, only quality and authentic materials are used. The blade collar (Habaki) and washers (Seppa) are made from brass. The package includes a protective fabric case, John Lee seal and certificate.
