What features to look for when choosing a jacket:
-
Water resistance - offers the lowest level of protection against water. Thanks to the tightly woven fabric, the jacket has a certain degree of
water resistance and is suitable for light rain. Using a waterproofing spray can increase the level of protection.
-
Water repellency - represents a medium level of protection. Also called hydrophobicity, the ability of the material to collect water into droplets that run down the fabric. Under greater pressure - heavy rain, however, water can penetrate through the fabric and the wax layer, and thus seep through.
-
Waterproofness and water column height - the ability of the material to prevent liquid from penetrating inside. Waterproofness is the highest possible degree of protection against water; even under strong pressure the material remains impermeable. It is determined by the water column. The higher the number, the more resistant the jacket is to water. A column of 10,000–20,000 mm is most commonly required for waterproof jackets.
-
Breathability - depends on the number of grams of vapour evaporated through one square metre of fabric in 24 hours. Breathability is very closely linked to waterproofness. The higher the waterproofness, the lower the breathability and vice versa. Breathability refers to the transport of moisture and sweat from inside the jacket to the outside.
-
Windproofness - provided by materials resistant to strong wind.
-
Insulation - the inner lining of the jacket made from various materials: polyester, fleece, faux fur, cotton...
-
Cut and design - when choosing a jacket, also consider the cut and design according to the occasion when you will use it. With us you will find elegant coats and jackets not only for the field, but also for everyday wear. You can choose jackets with various camouflage patterns or in a Vintage style - they look pre-washed and worn, yet stylish.
-
Buckles, buttons and pockets - also choose jackets by the number of pockets and fastening. An excellent choice are jackets with YKK zips - quality-certified, reliable even after long-term use, fastened with Prym snaps - quality metal press-stud buttons, and jackets with two-way zips.
-
Hood and high fastening - jackets equipped with a hood are definitely a great investment. They will protect you from rain and wind. Be sure to also consider the jacket fastening - we recommend jackets with high fastening for better protection against wind.
- Adjustable cuffs, drawstrings - fix and adjust the shape of the jacket while also preventing wind from getting through.
