FEEL THE BURN

Aftershave is mainly alcohol enriched with a handful of soothing ingredients. Shaving removes not just hair from your skin, but also the top protective layer. It's mostly dead cells and sebum, but without this shield your skin is sensitive, vulnerable and pores wide open. When you treat freshly shaved skin to aftershave, the burn arrives (Kevin from Home Alone would be happy to show you how it stings). Alcohol has tightening effects commonly used in cosmetics, so your skin pulls together quickly with a mild sting.

AN INTRODUCTION TO FRAGRANCE

Men's fragrances are mainly about concentration. Perfumes contain over 20% fragrance compound (engrybirdie perfumes contain twice as much) and last around 8 hours by most estimates. Ideal for wilder parties. Cologne has roughly a quarter of the concentration and will stick with you for a shorter time. Its job is not to annoy the whole neighbourhood, but to keep you fresh & ready for everyday activities.

And then there's aftershave. Unlike cologne, it's enhanced with soothing ingredients that put freshly shaved skin at ease. Cologne and perfumes are too harsh for that. Alternatively, you can soothe your skin with a balm after shaving, then apply fragrance afterwards.

Use and composition

Unscrew the cap, remove the inner stopper and splash into your palm. Work it in gently to freshly shaved skin. Use after every shave, whether you've shaved your face clean or just trimmed the edges of your groomed beard.

WARNING: No cosmetic and no aftershave belong directly in open wounds, so don't go burning cut marks like you're treating a sore throat.
