Matik is a modern semi-automatic belay device with an Anti-panic system and dynamic cam. Matik is used for sport climbing and works with dynamic single ropes with a diameter of 8.6 - 10.2 mm. The belay device has fixed side plates, and the rope is adjusted in the same way as a classic belay device. The dynamic rotating cam moves depending on the load. If the load increases, the cam tightens the rope and prevents it from slipping.

When a fall is caught, the cam tightens, but allows dynamic rope slippage - that is, the rope does not jam immediately, but by gradual tightening approximately 30 cm of rope is allowed to pass through. This significantly saves the rope during multiple falls at the same spot and also reduces the impact force of the climber's fall.

The Matik anti-panic belay system is used for safe lowering of a climber or abseiling on a single strand. The entire system is controlled by a lever on the left side of the belay device. The lever acts on the rotating cam, which regulates rope slippage during lowering. The anti-panic system activates when the force acting on the cam is too great - a sudden jerk on the rope, a fall, etc. - at this moment the lever breaks and stops acting on the cam. The cam tightens and locks the rope. The anti-panic can then be reactivated by moving the lever to the upper position and back.

Rope feeding is made easier by a protrusion for the right index finger on the moving part of the cam near the belay eye. Simply open the cam with your index finger and quickly feed a longer length of rope. In the event of an accidental fall into the cam, the belayer has no chance of holding the cam open with one finger; the cam immediately tightens after the rope is pulled and prevents rope slippage.

The heat-moulded aluminium body and internal critical parts made of stainless steel create the most natural path for the rope, which also significantly protects it.
