You are standing on a narrow snow ridge, crampons on your feet, a Camp Neve ice axe in your hand and a rucksack on your back being buffeted by the wind. You grip the shaft firmly in your hand and lean it against the slope. The steel spike bites into the snow to provide support. The connection between your hand and the axe is formed by a Camp Touring attachment loop, so in the event of a fall it cannot slip and be lost. Use the steel spike to arrest a fall or drive it in to help you climb. With the shovel you can dig out a standing platform or an anchor point to secure your ascent. After overcoming all the obstacles you finally reach the long-awaited hut safely and reward yourself with a beer.
