The X-Light is a very lightweight, well-balanced and durable ice axe for technical ice climbing. You stand at the end of a route through a glaciated couloir with your crampons embedded in the ice and you are thinking about the final snow and ice ascent. You continue on and to overcome the edge you use an ice axe driven up to the head in the snow, which gives you some support and you roll onto a snow platform. In the firn behind it you use a shovel and the back of the ice axe to build a station with an anchor and belay point to catch your partner. Then you make a parallel ascent to the summit cross and enjoy your well-deserved rest. The X-Light ice axe differs from a climbing ice axe in the security angle, which in this version is better at a smaller slope angle – for quick technical ascent/descent. An aluminium head allows the fitting of an adze (included as standard) and a hammer (CAMP X-Light Hammer). The opening in the head and tip allows the use of a standard loop and the opening in the tip is large enough to attach a cord to the axe (X-gyro Leash). A three-part handle provides several adjustment options for perfect tuning for your chosen terrain. The X-Light tip is toothless, so when resting in the terrain there is no damage to your gloves. X-Light is the most versatile axe for classic technical ice climbing at all ability levels.
