The AK-47 field knife features a blade shape that was previously used on the AK-47 folding knife series. In the United States, AK-47 folding knives became a popular and widely used piece of military personnel equipment. When we decided to create a new fixed-blade tactical knife design suitable for military use, we returned to the classic AK-47 blade design. The new AK-47 field knife was designed by Andrew Demko and is exceptionally durable. Our blades made from American CPM 3-V steel are highly resistant to damage. CPM 3-V is a tool steel, resistant to fracture and general wear. CPM 3-V is a tool steel manufactured by powder metallurgy process with uniform microstructure. Its chemical composition gives it particularly extreme toughness, resistance to breakage and very good wear resistance. CPM 3V offers greater toughness than, for example, D2. Standard hardness of CPM 3V ranges from 58 to 60 HRC. CPM 3V often replaces highly alloyed tool steels in operations where chronic problems with tool cracking or breaking occur. Its chemical composition reduces corrosion resistance, so knives made from this steel should have subsequent surface treatment or the owner must pay increased attention to regular knife maintenance. The surface treatment is applied across the entire blade construction with full tang. The G-10 handle is firmly bolted to the knife body, which is finished with a steel pommel for more effective striking. It comes with a Secure-Ex® safety sheath.
