In Africa, the Sjambok whip (Sham-Bawk) is used as a riding aid and as an effective self-defence tool. It has become a useful tool for herding livestock or for defence against venomous snakes. It is a very old African weapon, originally made from a single piece of hippopotamus hide. Light, fast and flexible – these are the characteristics of the Sjambok whip. You do not need extensive training to use it effectively. Our synthetic polymer version of the classic Sjambok whip is manufactured by injection moulding and is equipped with a soft, comfortable Kray-Ex handle grip layer that resembles plaited leather in its shape. Thanks to the materials used, the Sjambok is capable of withstanding harsh weather conditions that would cause serious damage to a leather Sjambok, such as breaking, cracking or mould attack.
