The Wild West Bowie knife is a replica of the Bowie knife from the Wild West. It is a faithful copy of the legendary James Bowie knife, identical in size and shape. Perhaps the most famous North American knife to this day is the so-called Bowie knife. This knife enjoyed its heyday between 1830 and 1880. During this period it was most widely used in the USA, Canada and Mexico. It was very popular among soldiers, hunters, trackers and people who moved in nature generally. The knife is named after James Bowie, a famous hero who was killed in combat with the Mexicans during the defence of the Alamo fortress. The classic "Bowie" knife is a fixed-blade knife that has a straight blade with a curved (concave) tip and a massive guard separating the blade from the handle. The Wild West Bowie knife is a replica of the Wild West Bowie knife. It is a faithful copy of the legendary James Bowie knife, identical in size and shape. The blade is made from 1090 carbon steel. Steel with a high carbon content (carbon content around 0.90%) is the best choice for long, strong blades, but it finds many other uses as well. It sharpens well and holds its edge for a long time, whilst also maintaining high rigidity. The handle made from rosewood has a classic profile and is fitted with a brass guard in the shape of the letter "S", which protects the fingers and increases defensive potential. The Wild West Bowie comes with a traditional black leather sheath.
