Molon labe in translation "Come and take them!" A famous statement by Spartan King Leonidas I in response to Persian King Xerxes I's demands for capitulation and surrender of weapons. It entered history in connection with the famous Battle of Thermopylae, where several hundred proud Spartans faced the vast superiority of the Persian army numbering several hundred thousand soldiers.
The motto is a classic expression of defiance and determination to defend one's interests. Greek and Cypriot armed forces, American Central Command for Special Operations, and the largest civil firearms owners' movement, the NRA, chose it as their motto.
