Specification
Rechargeable cycle light Fenix BC15R delivers a light output of up to 400 lumens (ANSI) with a beam distance of up to 78 metres. It is powered by a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh, which charges via a USB-C connector directly in the light. The light source is a modern Luminus SST-20 LED. The light uses a specially shaped reflector that directs light only forwards and to the sides, not upwards. The light beam is therefore sharply cut off at the top and does not dazzle oncoming drivers or pedestrians. The Fenix BC15R cycle light is therefore particularly suitable for use on roads and cycle paths.
The bracket design allows quick mounting and dismounting of the light on the handlebars without tools, and the bracket also allows quick removal of the light, so it can be used as a powerful handheld torch. The bracket can also be used on aero-shaped handlebars – the rubber collar will adapt.
Fenix cycle lights will provide you with quality illumination for night training, regular commuting to work and endurance racing.
All light parameters (light output, battery runtime, waterproofness and beam distance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.
Fenix BC15R cycle light specifications
- Uses a powerful Luminus SST-20 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.
- Four power modes in total: 400 lumens (3.7 hours) → 150 lumens (10.5 hours) → 50 lumens (31.5 hours) → flashing (400–50 lumens).
- The light is powered by a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh.
- Digitally regulated for constant brightness.
- Low battery warning, overcharge protection and complete discharge protection of the rechargeable battery.
- Impact resistant to drops from a height of 1.5 metres.
- Overheat protection – if the light heats above a safe threshold, it automatically switches to a lower power level.
- Specially shaped optics create a light beam combining wide peripheral illumination and a beam distance of up to 78 metres (1504 cd).
- The light is secured to the bracket via a quick-release mechanism, allowing it to be removed in an instant and equally quickly and safely reattached.
- The material of the rubber collar of the bracket ensures firm and secure attachment to the handlebars.
- Memory of the last set power mode (except flashing mode).
- Dimensions of the light 10.2 cm × 3.15 cm × 3.1 cm.
- Weight of the light 109 grammes including the rechargeable battery and handlebar bracket.
- Dust-proof and water-resistant to IP66 standard (spraying with strong water jets from all directions).
- Package contents: light, handlebar bracket and charging USB cable.
- You can additionally purchase a Fenix handlebar bracket, or a Fenix ALD-08 bracket for a cycle helmet or flat road aero handlebars.
- You can also additionally purchase a USB mains adapter and a USB car adapter for the light.
Using the Fenix BC15R cycle light
To turn on or off, hold the button on the light pressed for approximately 0.5 seconds. You can switch power modes at any time during operation by briefly pressing the button (they cycle in order: low – medium – high). Flashing can be activated by two quick button presses. Pressing again returns the light to the previous mode.
Battery capacity indication in the button – with the light off, briefly press the button once, then the indicator LED (logo in the button) will light up for three seconds, indicating the charge state of the rechargeable battery: Constant green: 100–85% capacity. Flashing green: 85–50% capacity. Constant red: 50–25% capacity. Flashing red: below 25% capacity of the rechargeable battery.
Low rechargeable battery warning – if the rechargeable battery capacity drops below the set level, the light will automatically switch to lower power modes to ensure the longest possible runtime (it will then not be possible to switch to higher modes). If the rechargeable battery is critically low, the indicator LED in the button will flash red. In this case, we recommend charging the light as soon as possible to prevent the protective electronics built into the rechargeable battery from shutting down and the light from going out.
Charging
- Unclip the rubber cover of the USB-C connector on the underside of the light and with the light off, connect it using the supplied USB cable to a computer, mains USB adapter or car USB adapter. You can also use any mobile phone charger with a USB-C connector for charging.
- During charging, the indicator LED lights red and switches to green when fully charged.
- Charging time is approximately 2 hours. The Li-ion rechargeable battery used does not suffer from memory effect, so you can charge the light at any time.
- During charging, the light can be used in an emergency, with only the low 50 lumens mode available. However, charging time will be extended.
- After charging and removing the power cable, do not forget to seal the USB-C connector cover.
Warning
- Do not disassemble the sealed parts in the light head yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- If the light is flashing or does not light up, it means the rechargeable battery is discharged. Charge it.
