The second generation of the extremely powerful bicycle light Fenix BC30 V2.0 delivers a light output of up to 2200 lumens (ANSI). It can be powered by a pair of rechargeable Li-ion batteries 18650, or alternatively four disposable batteries CR123A. The light source consists of two modern LED Luminus SST-40. The light uses the proven "Dual Distance Beam System" technology for dual beam direction. The main light cone is created by specially designed optics and reaches a beam distance of 187 metres, whilst the secondary wide beam cone is shaped by an optical element at the top that bends light directed upwards down to the ground. This creates a cone that smoothly illuminates the entire space in front of the bicycle – including areas that standard bicycle lights do not cover. Compared to the previous generation, the bicycle light is equipped with wireless remote control, which allows you to change lighting modes or activate Burst mode.
The bracket design allows quick mounting and dismounting of the light on the handlebars without tools, and the bracket also allows quick removal of the light, so it can be used as a high-powered hand torch. The bracket can be used on all handlebars with a diameter from 22 to 35 millimetres. There are six digitally controlled power modes in total, including warning flash, and there is also a low battery warning. The Fenix BC30 V2.0 bicycle light will provide you with quality illumination for night training, regular commuting to work and 24-hour races.
All light parameters (light output, battery runtime, waterproofing and beam distance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.
Fenix BC30 V2.0 bicycle light specifications
- Two powerful LED Luminus SST-40 are used with a lifespan of 50,000 hours of operation.
- Six power modes in total: BURST 2200 lumens (on button press, max. 30 s) → 1500 lumens (2.3 hours) → 600 lumens (6 hours) → 200 lumens (16 hours) → 50 lumens (50 hours) → warning flash (pulsing between 50 and 600 lumens). Runtime is measured with rechargeable 18650 Li-ion batteries with a capacity of 3500mAh.
- Electronics with digital constant power regulation and low battery warning.
- Maximum supply voltage 12.8 V. It can be powered by two rechargeable 18650 Li-ion batteries or four disposable lithium CR123/CR123A batteries. Batteries are inserted inside the light.
- Specially shaped optics create a light cone combining wide peripheral illumination with a beam distance of over 187 metres (8792 cd).
- The light is attached to the bracket using a quick-release mechanism that allows it to be removed in an instant and equally quickly and safely reattached. The rubberised bracket construction ensures firm and secure attachment of the light to the bicycle with simple and reliable beam direction adjustment.
- The light body is made from aluminium alloy.
- The light comes with a wireless remote control switch that allows you to change lighting modes and activate Burst mode.
- Overheat protection – if the light heats above a safe threshold, it will automatically switch to a lower power level.
- Dimensions 12 cm x 5 cm x 3.18 cm.
- Weight 154 grammes (without batteries and bracket).
- Waterproof and dustproof according to IP67 standard (tested underwater at a depth of 1 metre).
Package contents:
- light
- handlebar bracket with spacer inserts (thin and thick)
- remote control switch
- CR1632 batteries (for the remote control switch)
- spare sealing ring.
You can additionally purchase a handlebar bracket for a second bicycle, or a Fenix ALD-08 bracket for a cycling helmet or flat road aero handlebars. Batteries are not included in the package.
Use of the Fenix BC30 V2.0 bicycle light
- To turn on or off, hold the button for approximately 0.5 seconds. The light will always turn on in the lowest mode, and you can switch to higher power levels at any time during operation by pressing the button.
- To switch to flash mode, press the button twice quickly.
- Before first use of the wireless remote control, it must be paired with the light: Hold the control button on the light for 5 seconds. The button will then flash alternately green and red. Then press any button on the remote control. The light will turn on as an indicator of successful pairing. The distance between the light and the control during pairing should not exceed 1.5 metres. This process only needs to be done once; the control and light will then be permanently paired. To control the light, you need to activate the control by holding the top button for half a second. You can then change modes by pressing the top button briefly. After 10 minutes of inactivity, the control will turn off automatically. You can also turn it off by holding the top button for half a second (for example, to save battery).
- To activate Burst mode (2200 lumens), press the bottom button with the lightning symbol. Press again to deactivate. The maximum duration of Burst mode is 30 seconds.
- If the batteries are depleted, the highest available mode will activate together with a battery status indication.
Battery charge status indication
- A brief press activates the indicator LED in the light's control button for three seconds (the light must be off).
- If the indicator LED glows green, the battery is charged to more than 80%. Green flashing means 40–80% capacity. If it glows red, it is charged to 10–40%. Red flashing means less than 10% battery capacity remains (indication only works when using 18650 Li-ion batteries).
- Low battery warning – If battery capacity drops below a safe threshold (may vary depending on battery age and ambient temperature), the button backlight will start flashing red. The light will then gradually automatically switch power to lower modes to ensure the longest possible runtime. In this case, we recommend replacing the batteries with charged ones as soon as possible to prevent the protective electronics built into the batteries from shutting down and the light from going out. Note: the low battery indicator is calibrated for 18650 batteries for correct operation; when using disposable CR123A cells, it may not signal correctly.
Battery replacement
Release the battery compartment by turning the lock located on the back of the light to the left. Pull out the battery compartment. Insert the batteries according to the marked polarity. Slide the battery compartment back into the light. Secure the compartment by turning the lock to the right. Replacing the remote control batteries Using a coin, open the rear cover of the remote control switch by turning it anticlockwise. Replace the CR1632 battery. Ensure correct polarity. Close and secure the rear cover using a coin by turning it clockwise. The batteries in the remote control should last a minimum of three months, but this also depends on the frequency of use.
Warning
Do not disassemble sealed parts of the light yourself, as this will void the warranty. If the power button glows red and you cannot switch to high power modes, the batteries are depleted and need to be replaced. If the light flashes or does not turn on, it may be due to one of the following reasons: Batteries are depleted – replace them. Contacts on the connectors are dirty. Clean them using cotton wool soaked in alcohol.
