Fenix CL22R is a practical portable rechargeable lantern that you can use to light a room, tent, campsite, caravan, cabin, boat or work table. It offers 360° and bottom lighting modes with a beam distance of up to 80 metres. It is controlled by a rotary dial with a centre button. Both lighting modes can be combined to achieve a total light output of up to 500 lumens. The rotary dial allows you to smoothly adjust the lantern's light output in the range of 5 to 200 lumens.

The lantern is powered by a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh, which charges via a modern USB-C connector. The lantern offers a total of twelve lighting modes. In addition to 360° lighting with a colour temperature of 3000 K, it also has bottom light with a colour temperature of 6500 K, which allows you to use the lantern as a hand torch. There is also red light, which does not disrupt eye adaptation to darkness. Additionally, there is a new variable colour lighting (also called ambient lighting) that will enliven any garden party.

Bottom lighting is a very practical function that significantly saves energy. It is particularly useful in situations where 360° omnidirectional lighting is not needed, or when you need to illuminate a greater distance with a narrower light beam similar to a hand torch. The lantern is also equipped with a runtime extension function. During prolonged use in high modes, the lantern gradually reduces its light output to achieve a longer operating time.

Thanks to its durable and impact-resistant construction with IP65 rating, the light can be safely used in adverse weather conditions (in rain). The top of the lantern is fitted with a suspension eye for hanging. Thanks to its compact dimensions and weight of 135 grammes, the lantern is particularly suitable for camping and hiking.

All light parameters (light output, battery runtime, water resistance, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Use of the Fenix CL22R

To turn on 360° lighting, rotate the dial clockwise. Pressing the centre button will switch the light to bottom lighting mode, and pressing it again will switch to combined mode. Rotating the dial anticlockwise will turn the light off. When the light is on, rotating the dial clockwise will smoothly increase the brightness and rotating it anticlockwise will decrease the brightness. The light has memory and will always turn on in the last set white light mode.

To turn on red light or variable colour lighting, press the centre button of the off light for 0.5 seconds. Steady red light will turn on. Subsequent button presses will switch to red flashing → colors jumping → colors morphing and the next press will return to steady red light. Holding the button for 0.5 seconds will turn the light off. The light has memory and will always turn on in the last activated colour lighting mode.

The lantern is equipped with a runtime extension function. During prolonged use in high modes of individual modes, the lantern gradually reduces its light output to achieve a longer operating time.

Battery charge status indicator - each time the light is turned on, the LED battery charge status indicator activates for 3 seconds. Four lit LEDs mean the battery is charged to more than 80%, three lit means 60-80%, two means 40-60%, one means 20-40% and one flashing means the battery is charged to less than 20%.

Charging the Fenix CL22R lantern

To charge the lantern, flip off the rubber cover of the USB-C connector. Connect it using the supplied USB cable to a computer, mains USB adapter or car USB adapter (adapters are not included in the package). You can also use a standard mobile phone charger with a USB-C connector or a power bank for charging. During charging, the indicator LEDs flash and show the charging progress. After charging is complete, they will remain lit.

The rechargeable battery does not suffer from memory effect, so it can be recharged at any time and you do not need to wait for it to be fully discharged. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 3 hours (depending on the power of the charging source used).

During charging, you can use the lantern, but the light output is limited to a maximum of 100 lumens.

  • The rechargeable battery is almost discharged – charge it.
