Fenix HL17R is a multifunctional ultralight head torch that will illuminate you with a light output of up to 500 lumens and a beam distance of 100 metres. Despite weighing only 65 grammes, it conceals an integrated 1000 mAh rechargeable battery that charges conveniently via a USB-C connector directly on the torch body. The light source is a modern LED Luminus SST-20 with a cooler light tone and supplementary coloured LEDs. The unique mounting of the head torch in the holder using a magnet allows you to remove it instantly and use it as a handheld torch. Via the supplied clip, you can attach it to a rucksack strap, pocket or belt. Thanks to the strong magnet, you can attach it to an iron surface and turn it into a work light or lamp, or clamp clothing between the magnets and attach it to a t-shirt without a chest pocket. The HL17R offers a total of four brightness levels of white light and five atmospheric colour modes. Do you need strong light for distance for hiking, gentle light for reading a map, ambient light as a lamp for a campsite or tent, or a safety strobe and signal light? This head torch has it all. The Gesture-sensing function allows you to turn the light on and off by waving your hand in front of the head torch, so you can keep your hands free from mud, oils, food being prepared while camping or anything else, and the torch stays clean. The head torch maintains water resistance to standard IP66, so it will easily withstand heavy rain. Reflective elements on the strap increase your safety when moving in the dark. Use

On/off and mode switching - When the head torch is unlocked, press and hold the main switch for 0.5 s to turn it on/off. The light functions of the selected lighting mode then switch with a short press of the same switch.

Switching between white light and colour lighting - Rotate the light ring clockwise to select the lighting mode White light → Colour light.

Lock/unlock - With the head torch on, rotate the light ring anticlockwise (to the lock position) to lock it. Rotate the light ring clockwise to unlock the torch and return to the previously used power level of the currently selected lighting mode.

Memory for last set power mode - The head torch has memory and will turn on in the last set power mode of the selected lighting mode.

Gesture control of the head torch - With the head torch on, press and hold the sensor switch, the head torch will flash white three times and the gesture sensing function indicator will flash blue, indicating that this function is activated. After activating this function, you can turn the head torch on/off by waving your hand. With the head torch on, press and hold the sensor switch again to deactivate this function. Turning off or locking the head torch deactivates the gesture sensing function. If you want to use this function, activate it again after turning on the head torch. The sensing range is approximately 10 cm in front of the head torch and may vary slightly depending on the material and colour of the detected object, ambient light, selected light output and waving speed. The gesture sensing function uses an infrared sensor. If an object other than your hand moves within the sensing range in front of the head torch, the head torch may also turn on/off.

Charging - Turn off the head torch and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port. The indicator lights red during charging. When fully charged, it lights green. During charging, the head torch can be used in all modes except the highest.

Battery status indication - Each time you turn on or press the button with the head torch off, the indicator LED activates for three seconds. If the indicator LED lights green, the battery is charged to more than 85%. Green flashing means 50-85% capacity. If it lights red, it is charged to 25-50%. Red flashing indicates that less than 25% battery capacity remains.

Intelligent overheat protection - When using the head torch in high power mode, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the head torch reaches a temperature of 60 °C or higher, it automatically reduces power by a few lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60 °C, the power gradually increases again.

Low battery warning - If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the head torch will gradually reduce brightness to a lower level. After reaching the lowest power, the battery status indicator will flash red to remind you to recharge the battery.

• Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
• Lock the head torch to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
• When storing, check the head torch every four months and charge it to approximately 50% for optimal battery life.
• If the head torch is flashing, not switching to higher power modes or not lighting up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
  • The battery is discharged, charge it.
  • The head torch is locked, unlock it.
