Specification
Zoom rechargeable head torch Fenix HL45R delivers a light output of up to 1000 lumens (ANSI) and a beam distance of up to 220 metres with a touchless on/off function. The Gesture-sensing feature allows you to turn the light on and off by waving your hand in front of the head torch (the function can be deactivated). You can keep your hands free from mud, oils or anything else during work and the torch will remain clean. Power is supplied by a Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 1900 mAh, which charges via a USB-C connector directly in the head torch. The battery can be removed and in an emergency replaced with three standard AAA batteries (charging in the head torch is not possible). The light source is a modern LED Luminus SFT-25R and its light is directed by a special TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optic with the ability to adjust the width of the light beam (zoom function). It also features a red LED OSRAM GR QSSPA1.23, which delivers a light output of up to 130 lumens.
A total of 8 power modes are available, including a red strobe mode for emergency situations. Despite the adjustable optic, the head torch maintains water resistance to IP66 standard, so it will easily withstand heavy rain. The head torch strap is fitted with reflective elements that ensure good all-round visibility when moving on the road. Thanks to its features, the Fenix HL45R head torch is suitable for work use, hiking, search and rescue operations and as a running head torch, camping head torch, head torch for anglers and other activities.
All head torch parameters (light output, battery runtime, water resistance, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Use

Turning on, turning off and switching modes - if the rotary switch is in the locked position, the head torch will turn on by rotating the switch. In the second position it will turn on to white light mode, rotating to the third position will turn it on to red light mode. Power modes in each position are cycled by pressing the button on the side of the rotary switch. Holding the button for 0.5 seconds will turn off the head torch. If the head torch is unlocked and turned off by the side button, it will turn on again by holding the side button for 0.5 seconds.
Controlling the head torch with gestures - when the head torch is on and gesture sensing is activated, wave your hand within sensing range in front of the head torch to temporarily turn it off and wave your hand again to turn it back on. *When the head torch is on and gesture sensing is activated, hold the side electronic switch for 0.5 seconds to turn off the lamp. After this action it will not respond to any movement operation.
Turning gesture sensing on and off - to turn on the function, press and hold the electronic switch for 6 seconds, the head torch will flash red twice, indicating that the function is enabled. To turn off the function, hold the side switch again for 6 seconds, the head torch will flash red eight times, indicating that the function is deactivated.
Note on gesture sensing function:
- The sensing range is approximately 10 cm in front of the head torch and may vary slightly depending on the material and colour of the sensed object, ambient light, brightness of the selected output and speed of waving.
- If there are other objects in front of the head torch within the sensing range, the lamp may also turn on or off.
- Gesture sensing controls only turning the light on and off and does not change modes.
- When gesture sensing is activated, waving your hand will only temporarily turn off the light. At this point the head torch is in a low-power standby state. If there is no activity for more than two hours, the head torch will automatically turn off from standby and then cannot be turned on by waving your hand. To turn on, press and hold the electronic switch for 0.5 seconds or rotate the switch.
Memory of the last set power mode - if the head torch was turned off by the side switch, it has memory and will turn on in the last set power mode. With the exception of the highest white light mode, instead it will turn on in the second highest mode.
Battery charge status indication - After a short press of the button (the head torch must be off) the battery charge status LED indicator is activated. Four lit LEDs mean the battery is charged to 80-100%, three lit 60-80%, two 40-60%, one indicates 20-40% and one flashing indicates the battery is charged to less than 20%. This function is only available with the original ARB-LP1900 battery.
Charging
- Unclip the dust cover and plug the USB type C charging cable into the head torch charging port, after charging is complete, replace the dust cover to ensure water and dust resistance.
- During charging, four indicators flash from left to right, four permanently lit indicates charging is complete.
- The normal charging time for a fully discharged head torch with a 5 V/1 A USB adapter is 3 hours.
- During charging, the head torch can only be used in low mode.
Warning
- Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, this will void the warranty.
- Use only the original Li-ion ARB-LP1900 battery, if using disposable AAA batteries, do not attempt to charge them in the head torch.
- If the head torch is flashing, not switching to higher power modes or not turning on, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- The battery is discharged – charge it or replace it.
- The contacts inside the head torch are dirty – clean them with a cotton bud soaked in alcohol.
