Specification
Fenix HM50R V2.0 is the second generation of the popular rechargeable head torch with output up to 700 lumens, beam distance 115 metres and red light. Power can be supplied by either a Li-ion rechargeable battery RCR123A (included in the packaging) or a single-use CR123A battery (with limited maximum output of 130 lumens). The RCR123A rechargeable battery can be charged via a USB-C connector directly in the head torch. The light source is a top-class Cree XP-G3 S4 LED with daylight colour temperature (6000 K). The control button on the side of the head torch also has a built-in indicator LED which, when pressed, shows the battery charge status. The head torch is also equipped with a runtime extension function. During extended use it gradually reduces output in small steps to achieve longer operating time (see runtime graph). All-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is fully waterproof to standard IP68 down to a depth of 2 metres underwater. The practicality of the head torch is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the head mount and use it as a small pocket torch. The Fenix HM50R V2.0 head torch is an ideal companion for various sports activities, outdoor trips and domestic and work use.
All parameters of the light (light output, battery runtime, waterproofing, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with standard ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.
Head torch specifications
- Fenix HM50R V2.0 Uses a powerful Cree XP-G3 S4 LED (6000 K) and two red Everlight LEDs, all with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. Four white light modes: 700 lumens (1 hour) -> 400 lumens (3 hours) -> 130 lumens (8 hours) -> 30 lumens (42 hours). Two red light modes: 5 lumens (60 hours) -> red flashing 5 lumens (120 hours).
- Smooth light cone with beam distance up to 115 metres (3350 cd)
- ) Electronics with extended runtime function gradually reduces output in small steps.
- Protection against reverse battery insertion.
- Powered by one Fenix RCR123A 700 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery, which is included in the packaging.
- In an emergency, one single-use 3V lithium CR123A battery can be used for power, but the highest available mode will be 130 lumens.
- Convenient control with a single electronic switch on the side of the head torch.
- The head torch remembers the last set power mode.
- Battery charge status indication.
- Strap with reflective elements.
- Efficiently designed mount also functions as a clip if you fold the head torch away from the strap.
- The head torch can be rotated in the mount over a wide range to set the desired direction of light.
- Made from aluminium alloy with a hard-to-scratch surface - Type III hard anodised. Impact resistant to drops from a height of 2 metres. Dust-proof and waterproof to standard IP68 (tested underwater at a depth of 2 metres).
- Head torch dimensions including mount: 6.4 cm x 3.6 cm x 3.2 cm.
- Weight 78 grammes (including rechargeable battery and straps).
- The packaging includes the head torch, head strap, clip, spare O-ring, Fenix ARB-L16-700P 700 mAh rechargeable battery and USB-C charging cable.
- Fenix APB-20 case and Fenix AFH-02 black strap set without reflective elements can be purchased separately.
- Suitable for example for hunting, military or police use.
- After removing the head torch from the mount, it can be attached to handlebars using Lockblock and Bikeblock mounts. Additionally, a USB mains adapter and USB car adapter can be purchased separately.
Use
- From the factory there may be a black insulating cover inside the light on the rechargeable battery.
- Remove it from the rechargeable battery before first use.
- The switched-off head torch will turn on to the last used white light mode by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
- The switched-off head torch will turn on to red light by double-tapping the button quickly.
- The switched-on head torch will turn off by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
- When the head torch is on, short presses of the button will cycle through power modes in the order 30 - 130 - 400 - 700 lumens (when switched on to white light) or red - red flashing (when switched on to red light).
- The light has memory and will always turn on in the last set mode (applies to white light only).
- Battery charge status indication: After a short press of the button (head torch must be switched off) the LED indicator in the button activates. If the indicator LED glows green, the battery is charged to more than 80%. Green flashing means 50-80% capacity. If it glows red, it is charged to 20-50%. Red flashing indicates that less than 20% of the rechargeable battery capacity remains. The indication works correctly only with rechargeable RCR123A / 16340 batteries.
- Charging: Unclip the rubber cover of the charging connector and connect the supplied cable to the light (USB-C connector), connect the other end of the cable to a computer, power bank or USB mains or car adapter (not included in the packaging). During charging the side button glows red and turns green when fully charged. After charging, seal the charging connector again with the rubber cover. Charging a fully discharged rechargeable battery takes approximately 1.5 hours. In an emergency the light can be used during charging, but only the lowest white mode and red modes will be available.
- Low battery warning: If the rechargeable battery voltage drops below the set level, the head torch will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the head torch is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically discharged, the indicator in the button will start flashing red. The head torch will continue to light until the battery is completely discharged. Note: the low battery warning is calibrated only to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
- Head torch lock against activation: Loosen the battery lock of the head torch by a quarter turn, this will break the electrical contact and the head torch cannot be switched on. The button can also be locked electronically - with the head torch switched off, hold the button pressed for 3 seconds. After locking the light will flash red. To unlock, hold the button for 3 seconds again.
Warning
Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, this will void the warranty. Use only quality batteries to prevent damage to the light, for example due to leakage from batteries. Remove batteries from the light if you will not use it for a long time or if the battery is already discharged. Otherwise some lower quality batteries may damage the head torch. If the head torch flashes, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons: Batteries are almost discharged - replace them. The head torch lock is loose - tighten it. Electrical contacts are dirty - clean them with a cloth dampened in alcohol.
