Rechargeable head torch Fenix HM61R Amber V3.0 offers a light output of up to 1800 lumens (ANSI) of neutral white light (4500 K) with a beam distance of up to 195 metres. It offers three types of lighting in total – distance, wide and red – so you always have the right light to hand, whether you are exploring terrain, doing sport, working in a workshop, or simply want to read in a tent. The distance reflector creates a well-focused light beam with long beam distance and the second reflector has a very wide and smooth light pattern. The reflector with a wide cone offers maximum output of 200 lumens with high colour rendering index CRI >90 (Color Rendering Index). Red light and strobe with output of up to 70 lumens are also available. It is powered by a single Li-ion rechargeable battery type 18650 with a capacity of 4000 mAh, which is included in the packaging and charges via a modern USB-C connector directly in the head torch. In an emergency, the head torch can also be powered by RCR123A (16340) rechargeable batteries or single-use CR123A batteries. The head torch is fitted with a wide comfortable strap. The strap is perforated for quick sweat drainage and fitted with reflective elements that ensure good passive visibility when running on the road.
The head torch end is magnetic, so it can be easily attached to anything made of iron. The HM61R Amber V3.0 has four lighting modes for each reflector, allowing you to choose between high output and long runtime (up to 400 hours). The light is powered by digitally controlled constant current to ensure consistent light output even as battery voltage drops (as they slowly discharge).
All-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is fully waterproof to IP68 standard to a depth of 2 metres underwater. The practicality of the head torch is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the head mount and use it as a pocket or work light. Additionally, the head torch is fitted with a removable steel clip, so you can easily attach it to a pocket or strap. The multifunctional Fenix HM61R Amber V3.0 light is an ideal companion for a variety of sports activities, service and professional use, outdoor trips and home and work use.
The HM61R Amber V3.0 version is specially adapted for the Czech and Slovak market and differs from the standard version in the following points
- The LED in the distance reflector has a neutral light shade instead of cold.
- It is controlled by a single large button that can be easily operated even with gloves on.
- After heating, it maintains higher output in Turbo and High mode than the standard HM61R V3.0 version.
- The wide cone has 4 power modes instead of 3, including an extra economical Eco mode with output of 2 lumens and runtime of 400 hours.
- Stronger and faster red light flashing allows the HM61R Amber V3.0 to be used, for example, as a strobe on a bicycle.
- Memory for the last red light mode.
All light parameters (light output, battery runtime, waterproofing, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard.

Use
From the factory there may be a black insulation cover inside the light on the battery. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
Turning on/off and switching modes: White light is turned on by holding the button for 0.5 seconds, the head torch is turned on to red light by double-clicking the button quickly. The power modes of the activated light colour are then switched by briefly pressing the button. The light is turned off again by holding it for 0.5 s.
Switching between distance and wide reflector: Switching between distance and wide reflector is done by holding the button for 1.2 seconds when the head torch is on.
Memory for the last set power mode: The head torch has memory and will turn on in the last set power mode of the respective reflector, with the exception of Turbo mode of the distance reflector (it will always turn on in high mode).
Locking/unlocking: When the head torch is off, press the button quickly 3 times, the head torch will flash 4 times, indicating locking. It will unlock again with three quick button presses, then flash 4 times and remain lit in Eco mode of the wide reflector. Note: In locked mode, any operation other than unlocking will cause 4 flashes to indicate locking. Removing and inserting the battery will unlock the head torch. Accidental activation in luggage can also be prevented by loosening the battery cap of the head torch by a quarter turn, which breaks the electrical contact and the head torch cannot be turned on.
Intelligent proximity sensor: The head torch has a built-in safety circuit. When the distance reflector is on and the head torch approaches an illuminated object to less than 6 cm, it automatically reduces output to 30 lumens to prevent overheating and possible burns or damage to the illuminated object. When the head torch moves away from the illuminated object for more than 0.8 seconds, it automatically restores the previously used power mode.
Turning the proximity sensor on/off: With the head torch off, press and hold the button for 6 seconds. The head torch will flash twice, indicating that this function is on. Turn the function off again by holding the button for 6 seconds with the head torch off. The head torch will flash 8 times, indicating that the function is off.
Overheat protection: When using the light for extended periods at high power modes, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the head torch reaches a temperature of 65 °C or higher, it automatically reduces output to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 65 °C, it then allows the user to select high modes again.
Battery charge status indication: Each time you turn on, or after pressing the button with the head torch off, the indicator LED in the button activates for three seconds:
- Constant green: 100 % - 85 %
- Green flashing: 85 % - 50 %
- Constant red: 50 % - 20 %
- Red flashing: 20 % and less (charge the head torch as soon as possible)
- Indication is active only with rechargeable Li-ion 18650 battery.
Discharged battery warning: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the head torch automatically switches to lower power modes. If this happens in Low mode, the battery charge status indicator will flash to remind you to charge or replace the battery in time. Note: This function is active only with rechargeable Li-ion 18650 battery.
Charging
- Unclip the dust cover and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port of the head torch. After charging is complete, reseal the dust cover.
- During charging, the indicator lights red. When fully charged, it lights green.
- Normal charging time is 2.5 hours with a 5 V/2 A USB source for a completely discharged head torch. During charging, the head torch can be used, but the charging time will be extended and the available power modes depend on the current battery charge level.
- You can only charge Li-ion 18650 type batteries, do not attempt to recharge single-use CR123A batteries or 16340 batteries.
Warning
- Do not disassemble sealed parts of the head torch yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- We recommend using quality Li-ion batteries with Fenix 18650 protective electronics. Li-ion type 18650 are powerful batteries and must be handled with appropriate care. The presence of protective electronics reduces the possibility of catastrophic failure, but Fenix is not responsible for damage caused by the use of non-original batteries from other manufacturers.
- Remove the battery from the head torch if you will not be using it for a long time, or if it is discharged. With single-use batteries, there is a risk of leakage and subsequent damage to the head torch.
- Lock the head torch or loosen the battery cap to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
- Prolonged use may result in O-ring wear. To maintain proper water sealing, replace the ring with a spare.
- If the light flashes, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- Battery is almost discharged – charge it or replace it.
- Contacts inside the light are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol.
- The back of the light is loose – tighten it.
