Specification
Fenix HP12R-T is a high-performance head torch with a practical design that features a separate rear battery case. With two reflectors, it delivers a light output of up to 1300 lumens (ANSI) and a beam distance of up to 200 metres. The reflectors create well-focused light beams that shine both into the distance and at close range simultaneously.
- Main reflector emits cool white light (approximately 6500 K), which is ideal for normal good visibility.
- Secondary reflector has a neutral white tone (approximately 4500 K), which penetrates fog, rain and snow better, making it excellent for bad weather.
For maximum performance, both reflectors can be activated simultaneously in turbo mode (1300 lm) or low mode (70 lm). Individually, the main reflector offers four light modes (up to 1300 lm) and the secondary reflector offers three modes (up to 500 lm). For safety and special situations, the head torch is equipped with a front red light, red SOS strobe and red light and strobe on the rear battery case. Power is supplied by a replaceable Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh, which charges conveniently via a modern USB-C connector directly in the head torch body. Like other top-of-the-range Fenix trail head torches, the HP12R-T is equipped with a strap featuring the SPORT FIT system. Using a single wheel, you can easily and quickly tighten the head torch with one hand. The perforated strap with reflective elements is breathable, comfortable and increases your passive safety. A practical bonus is the integrated whistle for emergency situations. Thanks to its balanced design, the head torch is an ideal choice for trail running, cycling and skiing. It will also serve you well for hiking, climbing, camping, fishing or in industrial and professional environments. It is simply a reliable partner for every situation!
All light specifications (light output, battery runtime, water resistance, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Use
From the factory, there may be an insulating cover inside the battery case on the rechargeable battery. Remove it from the rechargeable battery before first use.
Switching on/off and changing modes – the cooler reflector is switched on by holding the right button (approximately 0.5s), the reflector with neutral white light is switched on by holding the left button (0.5s). Both reflectors can be switched on simultaneously in turbo mode (1300 lm) or low mode (70 lm) by pressing the button of the reflector you need to add. When the head torch is off, it switches on to red light by double-tapping either button quickly. Light modes are changed by briefly pressing the button of the lit reflector. The light switches off again by holding the respective button for 0.5 s. The rear red light/strobe is switched on by holding the button on the battery case (approximately 0.5s) and is switched between strobe and steady light by brief presses.
Locking/unlocking – locking: The control buttons can be locked to prevent accidental activation, for example during transport in luggage – with the head torch off, press both buttons and hold until the head torch flashes, indicating it is locked. To unlock, hold both buttons again until the head torch flashes and lights up.
Memory for last set power mode – the head torch has memory and will switch on in the last set power mode of the respective reflector.
Battery replacement – unscrew the cap on the rear battery case and remove/insert the battery in accordance with the polarity markings. Replace the cap and tighten firmly.
Charging – flip open the dust cover on the battery case and connect the USB-C charging cable to the charging port. After charging is complete, replace the dust cover. Normal charging time is approximately 3.5 hours with a 5 V/2.5 A USB source for a completely discharged head torch in the off state. During charging, the head torch can be used, but this will extend the charging time. During the charging process, the indicators gradually light up and flash. When all indicators are permanently on, charging is complete.
Battery charge status indication – After briefly pressing either button (the head torch must be off), the LED battery charge status indicator on the battery case activates. Four lit LEDs mean the battery is charged to 80–100%, three lit mean 50–80%, two mean 40–50%, one means 20–40% and one flashing indicates the battery is charged to less than 20%. The indication works flawlessly only with original rechargeable batteries.
Intelligent overheat protection – when using the head torch at high power modes for extended periods, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the head torch reaches a temperature of 60 °C or higher, it automatically reduces power by several lumens to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60 °C, the power increases again to the previous level.
Low battery warning – If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the head torch automatically switches to a lower mode until it reaches the lowest power mode of the cooler white light. After reaching the lowest power, the head torch will flash every 5 minutes to remind you to charge or replace the battery. Works only with original rechargeable batteries.
Head strap – The strap is assembled from the factory. To tighten the strap, turn the wheel anticlockwise. To loosen the strap, turn the wheel clockwise. Further turning of the wheel after maximum loosening will cause the strap to tighten again, reversing the loosening and tightening direction.
Warning
- Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- Fenix recommends using original high-quality Fenix ARB-L18 series rechargeable batteries.
- Remove the battery from the battery case if you will not be using it for an extended period, or if the battery is discharged. With disposable batteries, there is a risk of leakage and subsequent damage to the head torch.
- Lock the head torch or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
- Always carefully check that batteries are inserted into the head torch with the correct polarity.
- If the head torch flashes, does not switch to higher power modes or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- Battery is almost discharged – charge it.
- Head torch is locked, unlock it (see user manual).
Warranty
Five-year warranty on the head torch and two-year warranty on the rechargeable battery.
