Extremely powerful rechargeable head torch Fenix HP35R SAR offers unbeatable performance of up to 4000 lumens (ANSI) and a beam distance of 450 metres. Excellent performance was achieved by using a powerful Cree XHP70 LED with neutral tint and a pair of Luminus SST-20 LEDs with warm light tint and high colour rendering index CRI 94.5 (Color Rendering Index). Warm light penetrates fog, rain and snow better, so you will find it particularly useful in poor weather conditions. The head torch is equipped with a distance reflector and a pair of smaller reflectors with a wide light cone. The reflectors can be switched on separately or can be activated simultaneously in combined mode. With intuitive control via a rotary and electronic switch, you will handle every situation with ease.

The HP35R SAR head torch is designed only for wearing on a helmet, and for this purpose it is equipped with an elastic strap made of non-flammable and antistatic material. It also has an integrated helmet mount with NVG mounting. The package also includes 4 attachment loops for easy fastening of the strap to the helmet. If you want to wear the head torch without a helmet, we recommend purchasing the Fenix HP35R version, which features a comfortable textile strap.

It is powered by a Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 36 Wh (7.2 V / 5000 mAh), which is housed in a separate pouch on an adjustable cable. The pouch can be worn on the back of the head, attached to the waist belt, placed in a pocket or rucksack. This increases wearing comfort and in winter the battery is better protected against frost. The battery pouch is equipped with a red light with output of up to 20 lumens, a charge indicator and a USB-C charging connector. The USB-C charging connector also functions as an output, so the rechargeable battery can also be used as a power bank for charging your mobile phone, GPS navigation and other USB devices.

The head torch offers a total of 12 power modes. In the lowest mode with 5 lumens, it provides excellent runtime of up to 500 hours (that is more than 20 days). The head torch body is made from aluminium alloy used in the aerospace industry, ensuring excellent cooling and resistance to damage. This high-performance head torch with a separate battery is designed specifically for search and rescue operations, speleology and work use, but will also be appreciated by ski mountaineers, mushers and enthusiasts of other extreme sports and outdoor activities.

All head torch parameters (light output, battery runtime, water resistance, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Using the Fenix HP35R SAR head torch

The head torch is switched on and off by a rotary switch on the right side. In the first position the head torch is off, turning to the second position switches it to distance reflector mode, turning to the third position switches it to wide reflector mode and turning to the fourth position activates a combination of both reflectors. Power modes in each position are cycled by pressing the button on the side of the rotary switch.

Red light on the battery pouch is activated by holding the button on the battery pouch for approximately 0.5 s. Subsequent presses switch between flashing (5 lumens) and steady light (20 lumens).

Memory of the last set power mode – the head torch has memory and always switches on in the last set power mode of the selected reflector, except for the highest modes of the distance and wide reflectors, instead it switches on in the second highest mode of that reflector.

The length of the cable connecting the head torch to the battery pouch can be increased using the extension cable, which is included in the package.

Battery status indication – pressing the button on the battery pouch activates the battery capacity indicator (four lit diodes 80 – 100 %, three diodes 60 – 80 %, two diodes 40 – 60 %, one diode 20 – 40 %, one flashing diode indicates 20 % remaining battery capacity).

Charging – flip off the rubber cover of the USB-C connector on the battery pouch and connect it to a computer, mains USB adapter or car USB adapter using the supplied USB-C cable. You can also use any mobile phone charger with a USB-C connector for charging. During charging, the indicator diodes on the battery pouch flash, and remain lit when fully charged. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 2 hours when using a USB power source of at least 27 W. When using a weaker power source, the charging time will be longer.

Activation of USB output (power bank function) – connect the device you want to charge. Activation of the USB output is indicated by flashing diodes on the pouch.

Intelligent overheat protection – if the head torch temperature rises above 55 °C, it will automatically reduce power until the temperature stabilises. Once the temperature drops below 55 °C, the power automatically increases again.

Intelligent power reduction – The head torch has a built-in protection circuit. When the reflector approaches an illuminated object (less than 60 mm) for longer than 1 s, it automatically reduces power to low mode to prevent damage to the object from strong light and glare from reflected light. When the reflector is away from the illuminated object, the head torch automatically restores the previously used power level. Switching the intelligent proximity sensor on/off – with the head torch off, press the side button for 6 seconds. Activation of the function is indicated by the head torch flashing twice in low mode. Deactivation of the function is indicated by the head torch flashing eight times in low mode.

• Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, as this will void the warranty.
• If the head torch flashes, does not switch to higher power modes or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
  • The battery is discharged – charge it.
  • Make sure the connector on the cable between the head torch and battery pouch is firmly connected.
