Ultra-powerful rechargeable torch Fenix LR40R V2.0 delivers extreme light output of up to 15,000 lumens (ANSI) and a beam distance of up to 900 metres. This performance is achieved using one premium Luminus SFT-70 LED and sixteen Lumileds HL2X LEDs, powered by an internal high-current Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 54 Wh (5,000 mAh / 10.8 V). The battery charges directly in the torch via a modern USB-C connector. The torch is controlled by a rotary selector, which allows you to choose between wide beam illumination (up to 12,000 lm) and distant reflector (up to 3,000 lm), or both simultaneously (15,000 lm combined). Additionally, strobe and SOS modes are available for emergency situations.
The torch is equipped with five indicator LEDs that show the battery charge status. Moreover, the torch can be used as an emergency power bank to charge other USB devices. Despite its enormous power, the torch maintains surprisingly compact dimensions, with a length of only 17.5 centimetres and a weight of 843 grammes including the battery. This search torch is suitable for example for security of large areas, professional use or exploration and rescue operations, and also for all torch enthusiasts.
All torch parameters (light output, battery runtime, water resistance, beam distance and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.
Fenix LR40R V2.0 torch specifications
- The light source is one powerful Luminus SFT-70 LED and sixteen Lumileds HL2X LEDs with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.
- A total of 16 lighting modes:
- Distant beam: 3,000 lumens (3 hours) -> 1,500 lumens (3.7 hours) -> 500 lumens (14.1 hours) -> 10 lumens (177 hours).
- Wide beam: 12,000 lumens (2.5 hours) -> 8,000 lumens (2.5 hours) -> 3,000 lumens (3 hours) -> 1,000 lumens (11 hours) -> 100 lumens (50 hours).
- Combined beam: 15,000 lumens (2.5 hours) -> 10,000 lumens (2.5 hours) -> 5,000 lumens (2.67 hours) -> 1,500 lumens (6 hours) -> 300 lumens (25 hours).
- Strobe modes: Strobe (15,000 lumens) -> SOS (500 lumens).
- Powered by a high-current built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh / 10.8 V (54 Wh).
- Charging via USB-C with support for fast-charging protocols PD2.0 and QC2.0. Charging time approximately 4 hours depending on the power source used.
- Digital power regulation, overheat protection.
- The central distant reflector and combined mode of both reflectors offer a beam distance of up to 900 metres (203,568 cd), the wide reflectors illuminate up to 340 metres (28,189 cd).
- The electronics are equipped with a protective function against excessive battery discharge; when the voltage drops below a certain threshold, it automatically switches to a lower power mode.
- Battery charge status indication.
- Dimensions 17.5 cm (length) x 5.5 cm (body diameter) x 8.2 cm (reflector diameter).
- Weight 843 grammes.
- Made from aircraft-grade hardened aluminium, the reflector is fitted with an impact rim.
- Scratch-resistant surface - Type III hard anodized.
- Impact resistant to drops from a height of 1 metre.
- Waterproof and dustproof to IP68 standard (tested underwater at a depth of 2 metres for 4 hours).
- Hardened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating.
- Capable of standing independently on a flat surface and serving as a candle.
- The package includes a USB-C charging cable, belt case and wrist strap.
- A USB mains adapter, USB car adapter and coloured USB-C cable can be purchased separately for the torch.
Use
The torch has a rotary selector with four positions: off/locked - distant beam on - wide beam on - combined beam on. When the rotary selector is in the locked position, turning it to the appropriate mode will switch the torch on - the distant reflector at the lowest mode, the wide reflector and the combination of both in the last used mode. Short presses of the centre button cycle through the power modes of the respective reflectors. Strobe is activated by holding the centre button for at least 1.2 seconds, another short press switches to SOS and another press returns you to the last selected steady-light mode. If the rotary selector is not in the lock position, you can switch the torch off and on by holding the centre button for approximately 0.5 seconds.
The control buttons can be locked by switching the rotary selector to the lock position to prevent accidental activation, for example when transporting in luggage.
Proximity sensor in the reflector automatically reduces power to 50 lumens when the torch approaches an object to less than approximately 6-8 centimetres (prevents damage to the object from intense light and dazzling from reflected light). This function can be switched on/off by holding the centre button for at least 10 seconds with the torch unlocked.
Charging - flip open the rubber cover of the charging connector and plug the cable into the USB-C connector on the torch. The indicator LEDs will flash from left to right and show the charging status. Once all are lit, the torch is fully charged. During charging, only the wide beam can be switched on at the lowest mode of 100 lumens. After charging is complete, seal the connector securely with the rubber cover. For charging, you can use not only standard USB adapters and power banks, but also fast-charging adapters with QC2.0 and PD2.0 protocol, which will be automatically detected. Charging time is around 4 hours, depending on the power of the source used.
Charging external USB devices (power bank function) - flip open the rubber cover of the USB connector and connect the device you want to charge to the USB-A connector on the torch using a suitable USB cable. To activate the power bank function, briefly press the centre button. After charging begins, the indicator LEDs will flash from right to left and show the battery status. During charging you can use all lighting modes. After charging is complete, remember to properly seal the USB connector with the rubber cover.
Battery charge status indication - after a short press of the centre button, the indicator LEDs will light up for 3 seconds and display the battery charge status. Five lit LEDs mean the battery is charged to more than 80%, four lit 60-80%, three 40-60%, two 20-40% and one diode indicates the battery is charged to less than 20%.
Intelligent overheat protection - when the temperature exceeds 60 °C, the torch automatically gradually reduces power in small steps; after cooling, you can increase the power again.
Warning
- Do not disassemble sealed parts of the torch yourself, as this will void the warranty.
- Keep this torch out of reach of children.
- Do not shine the torch directly into anyone's eyes.
- Switch off and lock the torch to prevent accidental activation if the torch is placed in a closed and flammable environment, such as pockets and rucksacks.
- If the torch is flashing, not switching to higher power modes or not lighting up, it may be for the following reason:
- The battery is discharged, charge it.
