Fenix WH23R is a rechargeable work head torch characterised by high drop resistance, a unique construction with two reflectors and a function for touchless switching on and off. The distance reflector creates a slightly focused light beam with a beam distance of up to 84 metres, and the second reflector has a very wide and smooth light pattern. The light output of each reflector is up to 300 lumens and their light can be combined in turbo mode to a total output of 600 lumens. On the side of the head torch is a rotary control with which you can select four positions: off – distance reflector – wide reflector – turbo mode. In the wide and distance reflector positions, you can always switch between three power levels using a button hidden in the rotary control.

The new Gesture-sensing function allows you to switch the light on and off by waving your hand at a distance of approximately 10 centimetres in front of the head torch. So you can keep your hands free from mud, oils and anything else during work and the light stays clean. It is powered by a built-in Li-pol rechargeable battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh, which charges via a modern USB-C connector directly in the head torch.

All light parameters (light output, runtime on battery, water resistance, beam distance and drop resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Operation

The head torch is switched on and off using the rotary selector on the right side. In the first position the head torch is off, turning to the second position switches it to distance reflector mode, turning to the third position switches it to wide reflector mode and turning to the fourth position switches it to combined turbo mode. Power modes in the distance and wide reflector positions are cycled through by pressing the button on the side of the rotary selector. The head torch has memory and will always switch on in the last set power mode.

Holding the button for 1.2 seconds activates/deactivates the sensors for touchless Gesture-sensing control. If the function is active and the head torch is switched on using the rotary selector, you can then switch it on and off by waving your hand at a distance of approximately 10 centimetres in front of the head torch. A blue LED on the side of the head torch indicates whether the Gesture-sensing function is active.

Charging: connect the USB-C charging cable to the head torch and its other end to a USB connector on a computer, mains USB adapter or car USB adapter (not included in the package). You can also use any mobile phone charger with a USB-C connector for charging. During charging, the four indicator LEDs on the front gradually light up, and after full charging they all light up continuously. Charging time for a fully discharged battery is approximately 1.5 hours. The Li-pol battery used does not suffer from memory effect, so you can charge the head torch at any time. During charging you can use the head torch, but only in low mode.
