Modern uniform shirt
The Raid shirt is a new version of the classic shirt. It creates a complete set with UTP, SFU Mk2 or BDU Mk2 trousers, but will also work as a standalone lightweight shirt for patrol or urban activities. The tradition of this type of tactical clothing dates back to the 1940s, but we have followed the historical development of these uniforms to prepare a timeless and modern product. The Raid shirt is entirely made from Polycotton Stretch Ripstop fabric (48% cotton, 50% polyester, 2% elastane), so it is slightly elastic and allows greater freedom of movement.
Unusual in tactical clothing – raglan construction
In line with the principle that a uniform shirt is the user's "second skin", this model uses comfortable raglan construction. The sleeves are sewn directly into the collar, so there are no seams on the shoulders, whereas with traditional cuts the material joins together. Equipment straps or plate carrier harnesses are often placed there, which causes discomfort. Raglan construction means that the Raid Shirt worn under a tactical vest does not press anywhere. This type of cut is almost never found in the uniform field, although the US Army uses it. The latest American uniform IHWCU (Improved Hot Weather Combat Uniform) has raglan construction.
Classic pockets with improvements
The Raid Shirt has a total of eight pockets with attachment loops, so you can fasten your equipment to them to avoid losing it during operations. Two classic pockets, sewn at an angle on the chest, fasten with two Canadian buttons. Two mesh pockets inside the shirt: one with a zip and one open at chest height, for a map or notebook. Simply unfasten one button on the main waistband and reach into the pocket.
In addition, there are two angled pockets on the shoulders with two fastening options. Convenient fastening using two small hooks and loops can be concealed if needed and Canadian buttons used instead. The placement of both fastening variants allows you to wear the shirt, for example, on green operations when you want to be as quiet as possible. Furthermore, in high humidity conditions (such as tropical), the hooks and loops will gradually become less effective over time and Canadian buttons will function flawlessly. On the shoulder zip pockets there are also two open smaller pockets for small items such as a compass. Next to it is a narrow slot for a pen or pencil.
Progress based on experience
Classic uniform shirts have existed since the Second World War. The most characteristic uniforms made of durable cotton were developed by the US Army in the 1940s and introduced as the M42 airborne uniform. This pattern evolved during the Vietnam War from a uniform called TCU (Tropical Combat Uniform). After many years, the next milestone was the introduction of a uniform called BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) in all US armed forces. From the late 1990s onwards, it became popular to introduce modifications at the request of the soldiers themselves: sewing additional pockets on the shoulders, adding hook-and-loop fasteners, etc. Our Raid Shirt is a modern version of these modifications, which were designed to make life easier for soldiers.
