A classic smock for modern reconnaissance and sniper operations

The Recon Smock is a jacket based on the classic design of a military smock. Helikon-Tex created it for users who need extensive front-line gear during reconnaissance or sniper work but do not want to carry it on a battle belt.

Duracanvas Heavy – a densely woven fabric for field use

The jacket is made from Duracanvas Heavy, a densely woven fabric with a reinforced structure and increased wind resistance. It protects during extended periods in open terrain and withstands heavy use, even while you are carrying gear.

Duracanvas Heavy can also be waterproofed with wax.

An extensive first-line loadout without a battle belt

Pockets on the front, sides, shoulders and back let you spread the gear across different parts of the jacket. Some of the kit you normally wear on a belt fits in them, so you need fewer additional pouches. The gear stays close to the body and is less concentrated in one place.

This works well during extended field operations, when changing positions, on observation duty and on the march with a backpack and additional gear.

Ventilation during movement and intensive work

Large underarm zips increase airflow without having to open the front of the jacket. The main closure combines a zip with additional snap buttons.

On warmer days you can open the main zip and fasten the front with the snap buttons only. The jacket still covers the torso, yet ventilates better at the front.

Eleven pockets for different kinds of equipment

The key pockets have loops that let you tie down small items with a cord, so they are less likely to get lost during intensive work.

Spacious main pockets

Four large pockets with storm flaps and Canadian buttons for larger pieces of equipment.

Additional chest pockets

Two flat zipped chest pockets give quick access to maps, a notebook, a compass, documents and other small items.

Sleeve pockets

Expandable sleeve pockets let you move further equipment away from the centre of the torso.

Side pockets

Two side pockets at waist level hold a canteen, a radio or a first-aid kit. The jacket also has a compartment for warming your hands.

The poacher's pocket holds a poncho or an extra layer

The large pocket on the back of the jacket takes a poncho, a light insulated jacket or other soft gear. Zips on both sides let you reach into it with either hand without taking the jacket off. A mesh layer on the back supports airflow.

Ergonomic hood

The spacious hood has three-point adjustment, so you can fit it to your head, your movement and the weather.

Multi-point adjustment

Adjustment at the waist and the hem stabilises the jacket, limits wind penetration and adapts the fit to the layers worn underneath.

Adjustable sleeves

Hook-and-loop cuffs let you set the sleeve width and fit them over gloves.
