Synthetic or artificial fibres are textiles obtained by chemical manufacturing process from natural polymers, synthetic polymers or from inorganic substances. Their use alone or in combination with natural materials improves the properties of the product itself, such as its strength, higher elasticity, resistance to tearing or abrasion, quick drying, better shape retention or crease resistance.
To maintain the lifespan of sports and technical clothing, ensure proper cleaning, which depends on the type of material. Always follow the washing instructions on the garment label!
How to wash down jackets and other down products?
- Option 1 – have down products cleaned at a dry cleaner.
- Option 2 – wash down products at home on a gentle hand wash programme and at minimum temperature.
- Never wring down clothing.
- Always dry washed clothing in a horizontal position and shake regularly at intervals, or on low temperature in a tumble dryer with balls (max. 30°C).
- For textile products that have no barrier or membrane, we also recommend using special washing products according to material type.
- As a last resort you can use liquid washing powder in less than standard measure and without fabric softener.
Keep functional clothing for sports and outdoor in excellent condition
- Do not wash textiles after every use, you will extend their lifespan and help the environment and your wallet.
- Wash at lower temperatures, limit ironing and dry in air.
- Choose dry cleaners that offer a more careful approach to looking after your clothes.
