Kappa (in English "River Child") is a mythical creature from Japanese mythology. It is a water sprite that drags people into the water and drowns them in the depths when they approach. According to legend, it is also said to have a weakness for cucumbers. This exceptional katana displays a kappa and an unsuspecting tourist in its hand-crafted decoration. Beneath the beautiful colours, you should place great emphasis on the grain, which begins approximately 10 cm above the tsuba. Sharp ground Damascus blade made from 12-times folded carbon steel 1045 with more than 8,000 layers. Blade in Shinogi Zukuri style with a pronounced fuller (Bo-Hi). The handle wrapping is made from red cotton in the classic Hineri-Maki style. Black, highly glossy lacquered wooden scabbard (Kuroro style). With a long tang, which is secured in the handle by two bamboo pegs (Mekugi). The sword is thus fully disassemblable. No plastics; only quality and authentic materials are used. The blade collar (Habaki) and washers (Seppa) are made from brass. The traditional handle wrap is lined with genuine ray skin. All ornaments (Tsuba, Fuchi, Menuki, Kashira) are hand-crafted from metal. The package includes a protective fabric case, a John Lee seal and a certificate.
