The tsuba of this katana depicts actors from the traditional Japanese Noh theatre, which originates from the 13th century and remains very popular today. The Noh katana has a hand-forged blade made from carbon steel with a fine hamon and was traditionally hardened. The sharp blade is fitted with a hi (fuller) to reduce overall weight. The handle (tsuka) is made from wood, covered in genuine ray skin and has two menuki. Additionally, it was traditionally wrapped in red cotton. The tang is particularly long and secured with two bamboo pegs (mekugi). The scabbard (saya) is made from wood and has a red high-gloss surface finish. The blade collar (habaki) is made from brass. This katana was made according to original museum exhibits. The sword comes with a certificate of origin, wrapped in cloth and packaged in a high-quality wooden box. All measurements are subject to estimation.
