The Stout SJ is the result of a collaboration between Danish knife designer Mikkel Willumsen and SOG founder Spencer Frazer. This knife delivers uncompromising performance and incredible durability, allowing you to stand out from the crowd. The blade shape, Stonewash surface finish and ergonomically shaped green G10 handle result in a perfect combination of beauty and functionality. It features a CRYO D2 blade in a classic cutting shape with Stonewash surface finish, a stainless steel frame and a robust G10 handle. This everyday carry All-Stars slip joint knife is designed to be safe and offer simple and smooth opening and closing with a firm and secure open position. It is a worldwide member of the Stout family. RISK-FREE CARRY AND COMPLIANT WITH MOST URBAN KNIFE CARRY LAWS With a blade smaller than 3 inches and a slip joint for two-handed opening, the Stout SJ has a versatile design that complies with travel laws in most countries and cities. The nail-opening knife complies with the ban on one-handed opening, known as One-Hand Knife restrictions. PREMIUM MATERIALS AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE A sharp CRYO D2 steel blade with a durable TiNi surface finish, an ergonomic G10 handle and a slip joint mechanism designed to be safe and easy to carry. CRYO D2 Steel Universal tool steel with high carbon content, cryogenically heat-treated to SOG's unique performance specifications. D2 provides an ideal combination of edge retention and durability for long-term use with simple maintenance. The combination of heat treatment and precision grinding ensures extreme sharpness and cutting precision. Cryogenic treatment is a technique in which steel, after heat treatment such as hardening and tempering, is exposed to extremely low temperatures (typically around −185 °C). This extremely low temperature is used to thoroughly freeze the steel, which helps change its microstructure and achieve further improvement in properties. Cryogenic treatment is used to minimise residual stress, increase material hardness and strength, and improve wear resistance. In this way, higher performance parameters of steel can be achieved, such as better edge stability and greater resistance to breakage. CRYO D2 steel (D2 steel with cryogenic treatment) is generally valued for its high hardness (60 – 63 HRC), good wear resistance and ability to hold an edge. ERGONOMIC G10 HANDLE The knife handle is made from G10 material. G10 is a high-strength laminate used primarily for the manufacture of knife handles, weapons and other tools. It is made from epoxy resin impregnated with layers of glass fibre. The name G10 is a standard designation that establishes specific specifications and properties of this material. G10 is extremely durable and exhibits high strength and rigidity. It is known for its excellent resistance to chemicals, moisture and thermal stress. Thanks to its insulating properties, it is also used in the electronics industry. The handle surface has a rough texture and is not slippery even in sweaty or wet hands. SLIP JOINT Equipped with an elegant slip joint locking mechanism that holds the blade open using a spring and closes by hand once the spring force is overcome. Smooth opening and closing with a secure open position. AMBIDEXTROUS CARRY The G10 handle features a two-way clip that can be mounted for carry in either left or right pocket.
