ZEPHYR MK2 MID represents the next stage in the development of this legendary mission boot. The upper is made from a combination of water-repellent suede resistant to tearing and abrasion-resistant, breathable CORDURA® material. The highly breathable fabric lining is highly resistant to abrasion and ideal for use in dry or hot and humid climatic zones. The MID-CUT upper provides the necessary support during rapid rappelling and allows complete freedom of movement in close combat. An innovative locking hook allows individual adjustment of lacing in the forefoot and ankle area. Two-layer PU midsole with MONOWRAP® frame surrounds and supports the foot like an exoskeleton.

ZEPHYR MK2 MID is certified as a work boot in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2012. It is antistatic and has a cold and thermal insulation complex sole. The sole is not only slip-resistant, but also resistant to oil, petrol and contact heat.

The sole meets the highest slip-resistance standards. Protection against slipping depends primarily on the design and rubber compound of the sole. The boot provides optimal protection against slipping on slippery, wet and greasy surfaces, as well as good grip in terrain. Sole designed by LOWA with optimised rubber compound that provides good grip.

Polyurethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good damping properties and as a result is usually used in the midsole. Thanks to the use of PU, soles become lightweight and functionally flexible.

• Two-layer midsole is injected directly into the boot. The layers include carefully coordinated degrees of stiffness to create the best possible comfort.
• The boot is equipped with a replaceable insole for optimal individual customisation and in combination with ErgoPad® work:x and ErgoPad® work:h+ orthopaedic inserts from BAUERFEIND® is certified and approved for use as a work boot in accordance with DIN EN ISO 20347:2012.
• A special frame design known as LOWA MONOWRAP® provides an extra degree of stability.
• The forefoot and upper part can be laced at various degrees of tightness.
• The boot is equipped with lacing hooks with a closed design. The laces are guided safely and cannot slip out of the hooks. Closed lacing hooks minimise the risk of the boot catching on objects.

How to measure your foot and choose the right size

What to watch out forShoe sizes are not standardised. Every manufacturer builds on a different last, with a different instep height, a different toe shape and a different width. The number from your previous shoes therefore need not apply. The only reliable basis is the length of your foot – measure it before you buy.

Step 1: TracingTake off your socks. Place a sheet of paper against the wall and stand on it so that your heel touches the wall. Trace the outline of your toes with a pencil – hold the pencil exactly vertical, otherwise you will measure too much. Measure both feet, they differ in length, and measure in the late afternoon, when the foot has spread over the course of the day.

Step 2: Measure and find your sizeMeasure the distance from the edge of the paper (the heel) to the longest toe – it need not be the big toe. Go by the longer foot. Find the measured value in cm in the size chart. Do not add anything; LOWA has already included the room needed inside the shoe in the chart.

When trying the shoes on

• Try them on in the socks you will wear with them. On duty and in the field these are considerably thicker socks than for everyday wear.
• If your length falls between two sizes, choose the larger one. A short boot cannot be broken in, a larger one can be adjusted with a sock or an insole.
• Your toes must not hit the front – neither when standing nor when stepping down a stair. The heel must stay in place without lifting.
