What is a water column?

• The water column is measured in mm / cm2, which means that if you placed a column of water 1 cm2 in area reaching a height of 2000mm on the material, the fabric would still not let water through. If you exceeded the limit and filled the column to a height of, for example, 2500mm, it is possible that the material would then allow water to pass through.
