Quality Boonie hat from German manufacturer Mil-tec, for everyday wear. This cut is used by the British Army. The hat is also made from material treated with Rip-Stop, which is a fabric treatment that reinforces it through stitching. The hat has ventilation vents. It has a drawcord under the chin. The hat is equipped with a removable neck guard on the back of the head, which provides additional protection against the sun, insects or extra camouflage.
What is Rip-Stop?
Ripstop is a high-strength fabric, made using a special technique. Thicker threads are woven into thin textile at 5–8 mm intervals. The advantages of ripstop fabrics lie in their excellent weight-to-strength ratio and high tear strength.
Ripstop is used for hot air balloons, parachutes, boat sails, tents, rucksacks and sports clothing.
All camouflage uniforms of the American Army are currently made from so-called ripstop poplin (50% polyamide and 50% cotton).
Ripstop was developed in the USA during the Second World War.
