The filling typically consists of a paralyzing agent that has an incapacitating effect on vision, mucous membranes and the respiratory system. The most modern trend at present is substances marked OC (Oleoresin capsicum), which have a very strong impact on a person. When effectively deployed, a person experiences uncontrollable burning pain in the eyes and on the mucous membranes, and even with mild inhalation of the substance experiences a sensation of "knocked out breath". Their ability to act is significantly impaired for several minutes (maximum approximately 30).
